Rotary Kharghar – Footwear for all 176 students of Zilla Parishad school, Ovepeth, Kharghar. As part of ‘Happy School’ project, Rotary Club Kharghar, on 15th Aug, 2014, distributed footwear to all the students of Zilla Parishad School, Ovepeth, Kharghar. ‘Happy School’ project by Rotary Kharghar envisages a number of projects like – construction of toilet block, safe drinking water, e learning, English communication classes, tree plantation etc. Rotary Kharghar has taken up Zilla Parishad School, Ovepeth to make it a ‘Happy School’. In July this year the club faculty has started weekly ‘English Communication classes’ for VII standard and students are very enthusiastic and taking keen interest in the classes. Fifty trees were planted at the school by students, who are also nurturing them. Rotary Kharghar members attended the flag hoisting ceremony at the school and distributed footwear to all 176 students of the school as many of the students were found attending the school bare feet. Flag hoisting was attended by Sarpanch, members of gram pachayat Ovepeth, retired army perosonnel and other respected residents of Ovepeth in large number. Flag was hoisted by President Elect Sunil Bhatia and President Dr. Sameer Karavkar in his speech informed many projects planned by Rotary Kharghar for the school and sought cooperation from Ovepeth. A lot of planning was done by Rotarians Sunil, Tushar, Ramesh and Arti like collecting exact shoe size of all students and logistics associated. Rotarians present for the function were Rtn. Sachin Joshi, Sham Phadnis, Joydeep Gupta, Ann Arti Bhatia and Annet Harsh Bhatia. Students were very happy to receive the slippers which one could make out by looking at the content faces of the children.
