35 trees (not shrubs) were planted by members of the club who wholeheartedly agreed to nurture the plants. Since these will be looked after by the members themselves, mortality rate will be minimal, expected to be zero. Trees to provide shade and fruits only were planted. Gulmohar, Ashoka, rain tree, jamun and mango were planted. This year Tree Plantation by Rotary Kharghar had different objective. In order to ensure that the trees we plant have least mortality rate, this year we planned to plant trees where members can nurture the trees and see that they grow healthy. Members supported the idea and enthusiastically agreed. We decided to plant trees which will provide shade and/or fruits. We approached CIDCO to provide us saplings and they were happy to accept the request. CIDCOIn provided us young trees (not saplings/seedlings) as these have better endurance. On 5th Jul, Rotary Kharghar planted 35 trees in societies and gardens near societies. We visited 5 societies and members staying in Panvel carried the plantlets with them. All the members are committed to nurture the plants and will have immense satisfaction to witness their growth. Since we visited 5 societies one after another, the project got converted to a small picnic. 35 members of Rotary Kharghar family enjoyed the project cum picnic.
